### This series is designed to echo the mutation happening within the Thai music scene, electronic in particular. ##
If quite a bunch of pioneers have long been at work in that direction, there are recent signs of a shift that might prove a real game changer. Not so long ago, the Thai Ministry of Culture was almost exclusively focusing on heritage and contemporary art depended of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism. In the footsteps of private sector initiating projects such as Bangkok Art Biennale or World Music Day, the Thai Government has finally assimilated that Culture means soft power, influence and attractiveness. Hence the move of Tourism in the scope of the Ministry of Culture and the emergence of new initiatives towards supporting Thailand’s Electronic Music Scene.
---------
THAIBEATS - A new voice for Thai Electronic Music - was born from this upgraded vision, as a new music development project produced by Bangkok cultural collective Dudesweet and supported by Thailand’s Ministry of Culture. The initiative encourages Thai producers, DJs and musicians to incorporate elements of Thailand’s rich musical heritage into contemporary electronic music.
--------
In recent years, sounds from Thailand, particularly Molam and regional folk traditions, have increasingly found their way into clubs, DJ sets and music festivals around the world. Yet while Thailand’s underground electronic music scene has long been quietly thriving, it has only recently begun attracting broader international attention.
---------
Through a nationwide open call, the project is selecting 12 tracks from across Thailand and support their creators through a mentorship provided by pioneers and pillars of the Zudrangma Records and Dudesweet galaxy, such as Note, Tul, Maft Sai, Pascal Karier and a few others for track development, professional mastering, vinyl production and international promotion.
---------
The selected tracks will be compiled into a vinyl release under the THAIBEATS name and distributed to DJs, clubs, record stores and music curators worldwide, with the goal of getting the music played in clubs, festivals and contemporary cultural spaces.
