For the first edition of 'Tam Bryce.... Nice To Meet You' of 2023, I'm thrilled to welcome Monstera Occulta, who has recorded this special mix for the BCR faithful, taking us on a waxy journey across her Universe... Monstera Occulta (re)immersed herself in the music of the Maghreb and the Middle East, about ten years ago. Each song is like a return to her origins, to the music she heard as a child. Born of a Belgian mother and a Moroccan father, she grew up listening to Nass El Ghiwane and Oum Kalthoum. Today, oscillating between the nostalgia of the great Lebanese singers such as Fairuz, the psychedelic sounds of Baba Zula and the disco of Bappi Lahiri, she shares her musical explorations with both novice and initiated ears.
