This month’s Sonic Playground invites our first guest, Sophie McAllister, sending this set all the way from Berlin to Bangkok. The talented Australian born and raised in the tropics of Laos, Thailand and Bali, Sophie McAlister has been a regular fixture in various music scenes since 2016. Equally comfortable in the realms of house and disco as she is in the sounds of jungle, bass and techno, McAlister is an ambassador for stylistic pluralism. It’s said often, but she really does it all.

Welcome to the Sonic Playground, where boundaries are shattered and creativity knows no limits. Here, my guests and I are encouraged to venture into uncharted territories without fear of judgment. This sanctuary is where we are free to experiment and delve into unexplored realms with no right or wrong. We can play ANYthing and EVERYTHING at ANY time. The only sole requirement is that the intro and outro must be original sounds—whether they are self-compositions, field recordings, or vocals. Expect the unexpected!

Chris Cho is a multimedia artist, DJ, and creative director from Hong Kong, known for his immersive and multifaceted performances that blend sound, visuals, and modeling. He has captivated audiences at major festivals like Sónar and Clockenflap with his dynamic music sets and has collaborated with prestigious brands like Kenzo, Loewe, Nike, and Adidas in creative directing and modeling roles.

CIAOOO! :) This month's Sonic Playground invites Jacopo, also known as Sherab Taye, hailing from Italy. Sherab Taye is a composer, producer, and music professor, boasting formal education in Classical Music and a wealth of professional experience in producing electronic experimental and various other genres. His initial foray into the music world was as a radio DJ in the early 90s, when vinyl records were the medium of choice, spending six hours a day behind the turntables. He recently rekindled his interest in DJing to familiarize himself with the new equipment, primarily employing it for production purposes, although he still enjoys doing a set once in a while.

Montonn Jira is widely recognized for his innovative, multi-genre productions and performances, making him a prominent figure in Thailand's music scene. His extensive portfolio includes collaborations with a diverse range of artists like Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Hugo, and the Thai rock band Slot Machine. Notably, he graced the stage at Live Earth, one of the largest concerts in history. In recent years, Jira has taken a more prominent role behind the scenes, working closely with numerous Thai and international artists in the studio, and establishing his label, Samutprakarn Sound. In 2020, he released his solo album, "DuayKwamKaorop," a luminous folktronica masterpiece drawing on his extensive experience to create one of Thailand's most ambitious records in the last decade.
